A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian - Marina Lewycka

A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian is about an 84 year old eccentric Ukrainian who falls for a 36 year old whom he marries believing that he is saving her from his homeland. He discovers that she is only after his money and she treats him rottenly. The daughters of the eldery gentleman protest and the relationship and o anything they can to remove her from the family home and save their father. The joint campaign by the daughters against the woman means they have to unit after years of arguments if they are to win. The story follows the rejoining of the old family, uncovering their past.

I decided to read the first chapter of this book one evening because i couldnt sleep. I kept reading untill 4 am and had enjoyed it immensly. It was funy throughout even with the serious subject matter. It's easy to read and a joy. Best book read in a long time
